For more than three decades, our practice has been committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered dental care. Welcoming Dr. Galiano allows us to continue that tradition while expanding the expertise available to the families we serve. In this post, we want to introduce you to Dr. Galiano, share a bit about his background, and explain what his arrival means for you.
Meet Dr. Holmes J. Galiano, DMD
Dr. Galiano earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors in restorative dentistry, removable prosthodontics, and orofacial pain. His dedication to excellence during dental school earned him recognition from several respected organizations in the dental field.
His honors include:
- The American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED) Student Award, which recognized his outstanding interest and abilities in cosmetic dentistry
- The Quintessence Award for clinical achievement in restorative dentistry
- The American Academy of Orofacial Pain Award
- The William Lionel McCracken Award for outstanding accomplishments in removable prosthodontics
These awards reflect both his technical skill and his commitment to the finer details of dental care. Whether a patient needs a single restoration or a complete smile transformation, Dr. Galiano approaches every case with the same careful attention.
Advanced Training in Porcelain Veneers and Smile Makeovers
Cosmetic dentistry is both a science and an art. Creating a smile that looks natural, functions well, and suits a patient's unique facial features takes years of focused training. Dr. Galiano has trained under Dr. David Hornbrook and Dr. Mark Montgomery in the art of porcelain veneers and smile makeovers, gaining valuable insight into the techniques that produce beautiful, lasting results.
His education does not stop there. Dr. Galiano will continue his advanced education through The Pankey Institute, a respected center for continuing dental education. This is a meaningful connection for our practice, as our founder, Dr. Michael J. Scherb, is also a Pankey Scholar. We believe that ongoing learning is essential to delivering the highest standard of care, and we are proud to have a team that shares that belief.
A Personal Journey Into Dentistry
We think one of the most meaningful things about Dr. Galiano is the personal story behind his career. His path to dentistry was shaped by his own experience as a patient. After undergoing orthodontic treatment due to dental trauma, he discovered firsthand the profound impact a smile can have on a person's confidence and sense of self.
That experience gave him a deep understanding of what patients feel when they sit in the dental chair. He knows what it is like to be self-conscious about your smile, and he knows how life-changing it can be when that smile is restored. This perspective guides the compassionate, attentive way he cares for every person he treats.
Dr. Galiano was born and raised in Santiago de Cuba and came to the United States at the age of 18. He brought with him a deep sense of resilience and a determination to make a difference through patient care. That same determination carried him through dental school and continues to drive his work today.
Care in English and Spanish
Clear communication is at the heart of great dental care. Patients should fully understand their options, feel comfortable asking questions, and feel confident in the decisions they make about their oral health. Dr. Galiano is proud to serve both English- and Spanish-speaking patients throughout Palm Beach County.
For Spanish-speaking families in our community, this means the opportunity to discuss treatment in the language they are most comfortable with. We are grateful to be able to offer this level of connection and understanding to even more of our neighbors.
Building Genuine Connections
Dr. Galiano is committed to building genuine relationships with the people he treats. He approaches every appointment with enthusiasm and attentiveness, taking the time to listen and understand each patient's goals and concerns.
In his own words: "I am honored to join the Jupiter Smiles Dentistry team and to work alongside Dr. Scherb and Dr. Paulett. For me, dentistry is about more than restoring teeth; it is about restoring confidence. Every patient deserves care that is as unique as they are, and I look forward to building lasting relationships with families throughout Palm Beach County."
Outside the office, Dr. Galiano is married to his high school sweetheart, Caroline, and the couple recently welcomed their first child, David. His faith, his family, and his gratitude for the opportunities he has found in the United States guide everything he does, both inside and outside the operatory.
